Library

Ok, I really don't know anything about computers or how or why they work.
And I don't want to know about them either.

What I do know is that I pay X amount of money every month for mine to work, and when it doesn't i'm mad.
It's one of the most annoying things ever!

We spend alot of time on the computer. Watching our shows, blogging, watching NetFlix, browsing Zillow and Craigslist, Skypeing. And it drives me nuts. I appreciate technology and all it has done for us, but sometimes it just seems like a big distraction.

I do try really hard not to spend the entire day looking at the computer screen.

Today Tate and I dropped G off at work then went over to the Provo library. I recently found out you can use your O-town library card there! How sweet! Especially because they seem to have alot more books then the Orem one. Or at least multiple copies of the same books so you can actually check out the book you need for book group before the day of. They also have more story times.

Plus we are down there a few days a week dropping and picking Greg up, so its a good pit stop for Tatum to get some of her wiggles out before driving all the way back home (20 minutes each way is long for a 17 month old).

Another cool thing they have is a Mother Daughter Book Club! Once a month you can go and discuss a chapter book and eat cookies and drink punch for free! I can't wait till Tatum is 9-12 :)

I also can't wait for her to actually want to sit down and listen to me read stories to her. She likes to look at books and point out different things, which is so so cute. She can identify almost any animal, shoes, babies, and some food items. And sometimes we can make it halfway through a Little Critter or Fancy Nancy book  (her favorites) before she gets distracted by the lint floating in the air, or something else just as exciting.

There are so many amazing stories to read out there! I'm glad my Mom instilled a love of books in me when I was little. I always remember going to the library and sifting through the shelves with excitement! Our house was a miniature library itself, with at least a couple bookshelves in every room filled to the brim with adventures, mysteries, and histories!

I swear my mom has read every book too. Any time I mention one, old or new, she's read it. I think its because she doesn't spend any time watching movies {because she'll just fall asleep :) }

Anyway, we had fun today and found a few new (to Tatum) Little Critters, and my book club book. Yay for two libraries for the price of one ~ free!

p.s. wishing Mimi was here to read this to her

Another Nap Time

I read The Help a few months ago for my book group and really loved it.

I found out last night that "they" are making a movie out of it! And Emma stone is going to play Skeeter! And I love Emma Stone!
She is such a funny actress, and she looked totally amazing at the Golden Globes on Sunday. I was rooting for her to win best actress.
Did you know she's naturally a blonde?

She is in my top five favorite actresses for sure:
Kate Winslet
Kate Hudson
Blake Lively
Emma Stone
Sarah Chalke

I guess I have a thing for blondes

I accidentally woke Tate up when I went to check on her before I went to bed.

We walked into her room and she actually sat up but was totally out of it. So we just stood really still and were hoping she wouldn't see us. Then she turned her head and looked at me and then looked back at her bed in very slow motion. For some reason I thought this was super funny, and I started to laugh. I was cracking up, I couldn't stop! So I tried to run quietly back to my room, but by then she was awake and wondering what her crazy mom was doing. So she had a rough time going back down from that. But she slept until morning once she finally calmed down.
I'm calling it a successful 5th night :)

Catching up on My ZZZZ's

Seems like every time I decide to post I get distracted changing up my background, or my header, and then Tatum wakes up.
Not today!

So Tate is 17 months now, and I decided it was high time she started sleeping through the night. We had her trained so well when she was tiny. With the help of Baby Wise she was sleeping through the night at 3 months. We had a good run of that, until we started moving all over the country this summer. And ever since then she has been getting up, usually once, sometimes twice a night.

Luckily she would go back down after we got her a bottle. But really 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep is so so soo much different then breaking the REM cycle once or twice.

I'd read on different websites that you just have to let them cry it out for a couple of nights. I have been wanting to do this for a long time, but Greg couldn't handle her crying. I don't know if he felt bad for her, or just wanted to get back to sleep himself as soon as possible. I finally convinced him that we just had to stick it out and do it.

My friend Mirium told me it would take 3 nights. Three nights, thats not so bad.

Thursday night - somehow she slept the entire night through. Weird.

Friday night - woke up at 1 and cried on and off (pretty hard) for a little over an hour. That wasn't too bad.

Saturday night - woke up at 4:30 and cried on and off for about 2 hours. That night sucked.

Sunday night, last night, a miracle - slept from her 8 o'clock bed time till 7:30 this morning! Or at least she didn't wake us up if she woke up.

I'm really hoping this means that the cycle is broken, and it wasn't just a random fluke like Thursday night. I'm going to keep telling myself it is. I guess we'll see tonight!

I'm a Leo Now

So apparently the zodiac signs and dates have changed and there is a new sign?
I wonder what made today the day that it was official :) I don't necessarily "believe" in horoscopes,
but I do think its fun to read them in the back of my magazines.
I can't remember every having one of my predictions come true,
though i really hoped my Seventeen magazine would be right about having a mysteriously handsome guy ask me to the prom, or whatever.
I think people just like being told who they are sometimes.

My b-day is Aug 31st,
which made me a Virgo
And I always knew this couldnt be right.

Traits of a Virgo:

picky
critical
detail oriented
organized
planner

Not Me

So usually I would just pretend I was a Leo
Positive
Independent
Creative
Enthusiastic

I was only a few days off from Leo,
and I liked their horoscopes better.

Now with the change, I guess I am truly a Leo!

"Astronomer Parke Kunkle says that due to changes in the Earth's alignment the dates of many zodiac signs have changed, according to NBC. In addition, there may be a 13th Zodiac sign: Ophiuchus.
Kunkle says that as the Earth and Sun slowly move the signs gradually change, as expected.
The change didn't happen over night either. The 12 signs were designated to different periods of the year almost 3,000 years ago, when astrology began, and since then the Earth's position in relation to the sun has changed.
While the sign many people were born under may now be different, it shouldn't affect horoscope readings, according to NBC.
See if your Zodiac sign has changed below. (And find out if your friends' signs have changed here or under the dates below.)
The New Dates:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18 - May 13
Taurus: May 13 - June 21
Gemini: June 21 - July 20
Cancer: July 20 - Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 - Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 - Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 - Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 - Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 - Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 - Jan. 20

Shirt Dress

Uncle Brian sent us home with a box full
of men's business shirts for Greg over Thanksgiving,

and Ive finally gotten around to making a dress out of one of them.

I found this awesome website and followed the directions.
Didn't it turn out cute?  :)

( Sorry, I forgot to take the Before picture)

She wouldn't stop dancing around for a good picture.
Especially when she put on her new Twinkle Toes!

New Friend

My cute best friend from hair school had her baby yesterday!

Ashley and I would spend hours, literally, every day at school
dreaming of and talking about babies :)

Me and Tate were so excited to meet little Winnie!
